At the North West Jewellery School, we're passionate about nurturing creativity and inspiring the next generation of makers - so it was a real pleasure to recently welcome Year 10 student Grace from Ribblesdale School for a week of work experience.
With a keen interest in the arts and a love of both music and visual creativity, Grace immersed herself fully into life at the school. During her time with us, she designed and created two beautiful rings and two unique pendants, learning hands-on jewellery-making techniques and gaining a feel for the tools and processes involved.
But Grace's creative contributions didn’t stop at the bench. She also took the lead in designing and painting our front window display, bringing fresh ideas and a burst of colour to the studio. She supported the team with workshop management, joined a digital marketing meeting with Shine On Digital, and even interacted with our current students - quickly becoming a valued and cheerful part of the studio environment.
When asked about the highlight of her week, Grace told us:
"Creating rings - I enjoyed the process and the final outcome"
She also said she would recommend the North West Jewellery School as a work experience placement to other students:
"Yes I would, it's a very chilled environment and varied, so every day is different"
We loved having Grace with us, and we’re proud to support young people in discovering the many exciting and creative career paths open to them. Work experience can be a fantastic opportunity to explore new skills and environments, and we’re thrilled that Grace found her time here both inspiring and enjoyable.
