FAQs


Here are just a few frequently asked question's. Hopefully your question will be answered here but if not, please get in touch! 

​1 / Are the workshops suitable for complete beginners? 

Yes. The majority of our workshops are beginner friendly. If they are better suited to intermediates or advanced, this will be made clear in the event description.

2/ Do you do private workshops? 

Yes. We can run private jewellery making workshops. Please contact us for dates and availability. 

​

3/ What materials do you use? 

The majority of our workshops use Sterling Silver. We may use copper to practice on and it can be used as part of mixed metal design on some of our workshops. We also use PMC Silver Clay for our Silver Clay Classes. Gold can be used during our weekly jewellery classes and for private classes upon request.

4/ Do you run any regular weekly jewellery making classes? 

Yes. We have the following weekly jewellery making classes running during term time. 

  • Monday Evening 19:00 - 21:00

  • Tuesday Morning 10:00 - 12:00

  • Tuesday Evening 19:00 - 21:00

  • Wednesday Morning 10:00 - 12:00

  • Thursday Evening 19:00 - 21:00

5/What's included?

All materials to make your piece are included in the workshop price. We also provide light refreshments. Please note, lunch is not included. Please bring a packed lunch with you.

6/ What should I bring? 

Please bring glasses for close up work if you require them. Please bring a hair bobble to tie back long hair. We will advise when you will need to tie your hair back. If you are attending a full day workshop, please bring a packed lunch.

7/ Do you do Gift Vouchers? 

Yes. You can purchase gift cards here.

8/ I’m a beginner, which workshop is most suitable for me?

The majority of our workshops are suitable for beginners but we have a couple of workshops that are extremely suitable for beginners. These include our single ring workshop, our bangle workshop and our silver clay taster workshop.


9/What types of jewellery can I make?

We provide the opportunity to make all kinds of jewellery and on our weekly classes we explore lots of techniques and materials. 


10/How often do you run jewellery making workshops?

Our workshops are released every 3 months and run all year round. Our weekly jewellery making classes run every term. Please see our term time calendar for more details. 


11/ I’ve made jewellery before, do you have advanced workshops? We are working on our advanced calendar and these will be stated on the events page as suitable for people with jewellery making experience. If you have made jewellery before and don't require tuition, we also offer a 'Pay to Play' bench rental scheme. For more information please get in touch! 


12/ Can I bring my own materials?

You can bring your own materials to weekly classes but not to our one day workshops. We do allow people to bring Sea Glass to the Sea Glass jewellery workshops but cannot always guarantee that it can be used until our tutors have checked it over. 


13/Do you sell take home kits so I can make more jewellery on my own?

This isn't something that we currently offer but we are happy to advise our students on our suppliers and what we think is a good starter kit. 


14/How long is a workshop? Our workshops vary depending on the piece you're making. They start at 3 hours and our longest is 6 hours. Our weekly jewellery making classes are 2 hours each week. 


15/ Do you have parking?

We have plenty of parking. You can park anywhere that there is space on the farm but we just ask that you don't block any other cars in, block any entrances or access points. 


16/ Are any of your workshops suitable for children?

Yes we have our Parent and Child workshops that have been created for children 8 years plus. These run in every local school holiday.


17/What can I expect from a workshop?

Your day will start with a warm welcome and the offer of a hot or cold drink. You will be given a full introduction to the school by one of our amazing tutors and you will be guided through the process of jewellery making with plenty of support and help where necessary. If you are on a full day workshop, you will break for a 30 minute lunch (please bring a packed lunch) which you can eat in the studio or outside if sunny! 


18/ Can I take photos or videos during the workshop?

Yes we actively encourage it! We love seeing your photos on social media so please do tag us @northwestjewelleryschool 


19/Do you have jewellery for sale?

We do. Suzanne's personal jewellery brand Soul Purpose Jewellery has pieces for you to browse and purchase. 


20/I want to book this as a gift, but I don’t know when they can come? 
If you'd like to buy a workshop as a gift but you're not sure what date the recipient will be able to attend, you can purchase a gift card. This gives them the flexibility to book into a workshop at a time that suits them.

21/ What should I wear? 

Please wear clothes suitable for a workshop. We will be working with very hot metal and it is advisable that you have your legs covered. Open toe shoes are not permitted in the studio and we ask that you don't wear scarves. Long hair will need to be tied back at certain points in the workshop.
