Spotlight: Three Skinny Stacking Rings - Learn the Techniques and Make Three Silver Rings
Fancy having a go at making your own jewellery? Our Three Skinny Stacking Rings Workshop is a brilliant introduction to jewellery making, giving you the chance to learn a range of classic techniques and leave with three beautiful sterling silver rings that you have made yourself.
Over three hours, you will create three different rings, and each ring introduces you to different jewellery-making techniques, giving you the chance to build your skills while creating a gorgeous little stacking ring set.

Three rings. Three techniques. One brilliant introduction to jewellery making.
If you have never made jewellery before, it can be difficult to know where to start.
That's why we have designed this workshop with complete beginners in mind. Rather than focusing on just one technique, the Three Skinny Stacking Rings workshop gives you an introduction to several of the fundamental skills used in jewellery making.
During the three-hour session, you will learn techniques including:
Measuring
Forming
Texturing
Soldering
Finishing
You will use these skills to create three different sterling silver rings, each with its own look and character. Your finished set will include:
A silver beaded ring – a delicate ring with a beaded finish.
A silver textured ring – giving you the opportunity to explore texture and create a different surface on your silver.
A silver twisted ring – introducing you to the process of creating a classic twisted design.
Together, they make a beautiful set of skinny stacking rings, but the real benefit is everything you learn while making them.

A great place to start your jewellery-making journey
If you've ever thought about trying jewellery making but haven't known where to begin, this workshop is a great place to start.
In just three hours, you will get to experience several different stages of the jewellery-making process. You will learn how to measure and form your metal, explore texture, work with solder and then finish your pieces ready to wear.
It gives you a taste of what it is like to work at the jewellery bench without requiring any previous experience. And there is something very satisfying about putting on a piece of jewellery (three times as satisfying when you’re putting on three rings!) and being able to say, "I made that."
Complete beginner? You're very welcome!
You don't need to have any previous jewellery-making experience to join us. Our workshops are designed to be welcoming and accessible, with plenty of support throughout the process. Your tutor will guide you through each stage, demonstrate the techniques and help you as you work on your own rings.
We keep the atmosphere relaxed and friendly, so you can enjoy learning without feeling like you need to get everything perfect straight away.
Jewellery making is all about learning how materials behave, getting to grips with your tools and developing confidence through practice. Our aim is to give you the skills and encouragement to have a go.
Already make jewellery? You’ll enjoy it too!
Although this workshop has been carefully created to be suitable for complete beginners, you don't have to be new to jewellery making to enjoy it.
If you already have some experience, the workshop is a great opportunity to reinforce your existing ring-making knowledge and practise some of those fundamental techniques. You might also pick up a different approach to a familiar technique or simply enjoy spending three hours concentrating on making something beautiful. Sometimes going back to the basics is one of the best ways to strengthen your skills.
Learn the foundations of ring making
One of the great things about making these three rings is that you aren't just following a set of instructions. You are learning some of the foundations that can be used in many other jewellery projects.
Understanding how to measure and form a ring, for example, gives you skills you can take into future projects. Learning how to solder and finish your pieces will also help you as you progress and start exploring other designs.
The three rings give you a chance to experience these techniques in a manageable and enjoyable way. Who knows? Your three little stacking rings might be the beginning of a much bigger jewellery-making journey.
A warm and welcoming place to learn
The workshop takes place at North West Jewellery School, in the heart of the beautiful Ribble Valley. We believe that learning something new should feel enjoyable and welcoming. Our studio is a space where you can get creative, ask questions and try something different in a supportive environment. The rural setting also provides plenty of inspiration, and while you're visiting you can even take the opportunity to explore some of the other stores available on site.
It's a lovely way to spend three hours doing something creative and making something that you can take home and wear.
What will I leave with?
At the end of the three-hour workshop, you will have created three sterling silver stacking rings: One silver beaded ring, one silver textured ring and one silver twisted ring. But you'll leave with more than three new pieces of jewellery.
You'll also have learnt a range of jewellery-making techniques and gained experience working with silver at the bench.
Most importantly, you'll have had the chance to discover whether jewellery making is something you'd like to explore further.
Ready to have a go?
Whether you're completely new to jewellery making or already have some experience, our Three Skinny Stacking Rings Workshop is a great way to spend three creative hours.
You'll learn new techniques, get plenty of support and make three sterling silver rings to take home and enjoy.
And who knows? Those three little stacking rings could be the start of your jewellery-making journey.
Workshops are suitable for ages 18 and over.
