At the North West Jewellery School, we believe that creativity should be accessible, joyful, and a little bit magical. That’s why our  jewellery making classes are designed to spark your imagination, grow your skills, and connect you with a community of like-minded makers.

Choose the Workshop That’s Right for You

Whether you're a complete beginner or already have some experience at the bench, we have a wide range of classes to suit every level. From one-day workshops where you can create silver rings, bangles, pendants, silver clay pieces and even pieces set with gemstones or sea glass, there’s something for everyone.

If you’re looking for a more immersive experience, our weekly term-time classes offer the chance to develop your skills over time. These sessions are less prescriptive than our one-day workshops and are perfect for those who want to work on their own projects at their own pace. We’ll help you build a solid foundation in silversmithing and then guide you as you explore new techniques, materials, and designs.

Whether it’s a relaxing hobby or the beginning of a creative business journey, our expert tutors are here to support you every step of the way.

What Happens During a One Day Workshop?

Your day begins with a friendly welcome and the offer of a hot or cold drink (and yes, there’s always time for a biscuit break too!). You'll get a full introduction to the school and meet your tutor, who will explain the process and what you'll be making. Each class is guided and supportive, allowing you to work at your own pace with as much or as little help as you need.

If you're attending a full-day workshop, you’ll have a 30-minute lunch break, which you can enjoy in the studio or outside if the weather’s nice. It’s a relaxed and creative environment where you’ll quickly feel at home.

What Materials Do We Use?

We use Sterling Silver in the majority of our workshops. Occasionally, you may practise with copper, which can also be included in some mixed metal designs. Our Silver Clay Classes use PMC (Precious Metal Clay) – a wonderfully versatile material. For those attending weekly term-time or private classes, you purchase your own materials or even recycle old heirloom jewellery.

All materials to make your piece are included in the one day workshop price, and we also provide light refreshments throughout the day. Please note that lunch is not included, so we ask that you bring a packed lunch if you’re joining us for a full day.

What Should I Bring and Wear?

To make your day comfortable and safe, please keep the following in mind:

  • Glasses for close-up work, if needed

  • A hair bobble to tie back long hair (we’ll let you know when it’s necessary)

  • A packed lunch for full-day workshops

  • Clothes suitable for a workshop environment - you’ll be working with hot metal, so please ensure your legs are covered, and avoid open-toe shoes, scarves, and other loose accessories

More Than Just Making Jewellery

Our classes are about more than learning a skill - they’re about unlocking your creativity, making friends, and discovering a fulfilling new hobby. We’ve seen students come in nervous and leave brimming with pride (and a beautiful piece of jewellery too!). It’s a fantastic way to unwind, explore something new, and gain the confidence to create pieces that are completely your own.

So whether you're curious to try silversmithing for the first time or looking to deepen your knowledge , we’d love to welcome you to our studio.
